Corporate Identity Movie vs Corporate Film: What Pune Manufacturers Need in 2026

"We need a corporate film" is one of the most common briefs we hear. But when we ask where the film will be shown and who will watch it, the answer often points to something different: a corporate identity movie.

The two are easy to confuse. Both introduce your company, both use the same kind of footage and both are made by the same crew. But they do different jobs, run for different lengths and are built in different ways. Choosing the wrong one means a film that is too long for LinkedIn or too thin for a customer presentation.

I'm Arpit Patel, an industrial filmmaker and photographer with 16+ years of experience working with manufacturers across India. This guide explains the difference, when you need each and how to get both from one shoot.

What is a corporate identity movie?

A corporate identity movie is a short, brand-led film, usually 60–120 seconds long. It answers one question: who are you and what do you stand for?

It is built around feelings and impressions rather than facts: your people, your scale, your values, your ambition. It often has no voice-over at all, just strong visuals, music and a few lines of on-screen text. Think of it as your company's visual signature.

Typical uses:

  • Website homepage hero video

  • Trade-show and reception screens

  • The opening of a leadership keynote, AGM or investor meet

  • LinkedIn and Instagram brand posts

  • Recruitment campaigns and employer branding

  • Launch events for a new plant, product or brand identity

What is a corporate film?

A corporate film is a longer, information-led film, usually 3–6 minutes. It answers a different question: why should a customer, investor or partner trust you?

It explains your history, capabilities, facilities, certifications, key products, quality systems, customers and sectors served. It usually has a script and a voice-over, interviews with leaders and on-screen facts such as capacity, plant size and export markets.

Typical uses:

  • Sales meetings and customer presentations

  • Supplier qualification and audit preparation

  • Global tender submissions

  • Investor presentations, IPO roadshows and annual meetings

  • Onboarding new employees, distributors and partners

How to film a moving line without stopping production

The line doesn't stop for a film crew and it shouldn't. Manufacturing process filming in an automotive plant is planned around takt time and shift patterns:

  1. Recce with production and EHS. We walk the plant, mark approved camera positions, check robot-cell fencing and pedestrian walkways and note which stations are most visual.

  2. Shot list by station. Every shot is linked to a line station and a time slot, so the crew moves in step with production.

  3. Safety induction and PPE. Every crew member completes your induction and wears the required PPE: safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection and high-visibility vests where needed.

  4. No entry into robot cells while live. We use long lenses, gimbals and approved gaps in the fencing. Any shot inside a cell happens only during a planned lock-out with your team.

  5. Paint-shop and cleanroom rules. Paint shops and clean areas usually need special clothing and limits on equipment. We follow your rules or film through viewing windows.

  6. Hero shots in short windows. Special shots, such as a car body leaving the line or a die change, are grouped into short, pre-agreed windows.

  7. Night and weekend options. For areas that are too busy during the day, we can film on a night shift or a planned maintenance day.

Which one does your company need?

Choose a corporate identity movie if:

  • You are launching a new brand identity, logo or positioning

  • Your website homepage feels static or dated

  • You attend trade shows and need a screen loop that draws people in

  • You are hiring actively and want to stand out as an employer

  • Your audience already knows what you make and you want to raise how they feel about you

Choose a corporate film if:

Automotive plants are among the most cinematic industrial spaces. Cinematic industrial cinematography makes them look as good on screen as the vehicles they build:

  • Your sales team keeps explaining the same capabilities in every meeting

  • You are qualifying with new OEMs, multinationals or export buyers

  • You bid on global tenders that ask for company presentations

  • You are preparing for an IPO, fundraising or a major investor meet

  • You have added new plants, lines or certifications that customers don't know about

Most Pune manufacturers need both. The good news is that you don't need two separate projects.

One shoot, two films: how we plan it

Because both films use the same raw material (your plant, people and products), we plan them together from the start:

  1. One brief, two outputs. We agree the message for the identity movie and the content for the corporate film in the same discovery call.

  2. One shot list. The shot list covers cinematic "brand" shots for the identity movie and detailed process shots for the corporate film.

  3. One recce and one set of permissions. Gate passes, PPE, safety induction and confidentiality rules are sorted once.

  4. One to three shoot days. Plant, R&D centre, office and leadership interviews are filmed in one trip.

  5. Two edits. The corporate film is cut first with the full script; the identity movie is then cut from the strongest visual moments.

  6. Extra cuts at no extra shoot cost. Vertical reels, a silent trade-show loop, recruitment clips and a 15-second teaser come from the same footage.

What makes an industrial corporate film look world-class

Pune companies compete with suppliers from Germany, Japan, Korea and China. Their films set the standard buyers compare you against. Cinematic industrial cinematography closes that gap:

  • Lighting on the shop floor. Machines and people lit with intent, not just by factory tube lights.

  • Controlled camera movement. Sliders, gimbals and drones give a smooth, premium feel.

  • Real people, well directed. Your engineers and operators on camera, relaxed and confident, not reading from a script.

  • A clear story. Every scene earns its place. Shorter is usually better.

  • Professional sound. Clean interview audio, sound design and licensed music.

  • Colour grading. A consistent look that matches your brand colours.

Corporate film maker in Pune: the plant, the R&D centre and the boardroom

Many Pune-region manufacturers have a plant in Chakan, Talegaon, Ranjangaon or Bhosari, an R&D or engineering centre in Hinjewadi or Baner and a head office in the city. As a corporate film maker in Pune, we plan all locations in one trip, so your corporate film and identity movie show the full company, not just one site.

How to choose a corporate film production company

Before you hire a corporate film production company, ask:

  • Can they show industrial work? Wedding and advertising reels don't prove they can work on a shop floor.

  • Do they understand your audience? A film for OEM buyers is very different from one for retail consumers.

  • Can they deliver both films from one shoot? Ask how they plan the shot list and edits.

  • Who is on the team? Director, camera, lighting, sound, drone pilot and editor should all be clear.

  • What do you own? Agree usage rights, music licences and raw-footage delivery in writing.

A specialist B2B manufacturing video agency understands these points from the first call. See our industrial video production services and the complete guide to industrial video production in India.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a corporate identity movie and a corporate film?

A corporate identity movie is a short (60–120 second), emotional, brand-led film about who you are. A corporate film is a longer (3–6 minute), information-led film that explains your capabilities and why customers should trust you.

How long should a corporate identity movie be?

Usually 60–120 seconds. For social media, we also cut 15–30 second versions from the same film.

Can we make both films from one shoot?

Yes. We plan one shot list and one shoot, then cut two films plus short social clips from the same footage. This usually costs much less than two separate projects.

How often should we update our corporate film?

A corporate film usually needs updating every 1–2 years, as capacity, plants and certifications change. An identity movie can last 2–3 years because it focuses on brand rather than facts.

Do you film in Pune and Chakan?

Yes. We film across Pune city, Hinjewadi, Chakan, Talegaon, Ranjangaon and Bhosari and plan multi-site shoots in one trip.
